Educator and minor writer. Born in Ṣadad, his father died when he was young and he was sent to the Taw Mim Semkath Orphanage in Beirut . He studied Syriac under Isḥāq Armalah and ʿAbd al-Masīḥ Qarabashī . He taught in the Syr. Orth. schools of ʿAmūdā, Qamishli, and Aleppo . He composed a number of nationalistic poems, in particular Motho rḥimto nišo dil(y) ‘O Beloved Nation, you are my symbol’, which is quite popular today. Most of his writings, however, remain unpublished. His poem motho rḥimto was published with musical notation by Gabriel Asʿad (Aleppo, 1935).
