ʿAbdulmasīḥ II (1854–1915) [Syr. Orth.]
Patr. of Antioch (1895–1903). Born in Qalʿat Mara, he joined Dayr al-Zaʿfarān in 1866, became a monk in 1873, was ordained priest in 1875, and consecrated bp. of Syria in 1886. In 1895, he was elected and consecrated patr., but later deposed in 1903. In 1912 he traveled to India and consecrated Baselios Pawlos as Maphrian for India; the consecration was not recognized by the patr. of Antioch. ʿAbdulmasīḥ returned to Mardin where he spent the last years of his life. He died in 1915 and was buried in Dayr al-Zaʿfarān.
